Loonse and Drunense Dunes: a natural paradise
From the campsite you can walk or cycle straight into the Loonse and Drunense Dunes. This National Park is a protected nature reserve where you can wander through the drifting sand, one of the most unique landscapes in the Netherlands. The varied terrain is ideal for:
- Hikers - Explore the winding paths and enjoy the vast sandy plains.
- Cyclists - Follow the signposted cycle routes through woods, heathland and dunes.
- Riders - There are almost 100 kilometres of dedicated equestrian routes for unforgettable rides.
Bordering the Loonse and Drunense Dunes is the lesser-known but at least as special nature reserve De Brand. This is one of the last remnants of a Brabants broekbos: a damp, swampy forest where you experience a totally different landscape than in the dry dunes.

Wildlife spotting in nature
The area around the campsite is a paradise for nature lovers and bird watchers. As you walk directly from the campsite into the nature reserve, you have a good chance of seeing wild animals or discovering their tracks. In the Loonse en Drunense Duinen live among others:
- Foxes - Often recognisable by their tracks in the sand.
- Deer - Shy animals you can see early in the morning or at dusk.
- Birds of prey - Such as the buzzard, sparrow hawk and with some luck even a hawk.
- Badgers - Nocturnal animals, whose digging tracks you can encounter during the day.
